Robert Fairchild to Depart An American in Paris

Garen Scribner will step into the role of Jerry Mulligan before starring in the show’s national tour.

Broadway musical An American in Paris has announced plans to welcome Garen Scribner, a soloist with the San Francisco Ballet, in the role of Jerry Mulligan beginning March 15. Scribner, who has been performing the role at various performances since June 2015, replaces Drama Desk Award winner Robert Fairchild, who will play his final performance on March 13.

Scribner will star as Jerry Mulligan on Broadway before starring in the show's U.S. national tour this fall. The touring production will also feature Sara Esty, who is currently playing Lise Dassin at various performances on Broadway, with additional casting for the tour to be announced soon.

In An American in Paris on Broadway, Scribner will star opposite current principal cast members Leanne Cope, Veanne Cox, Jill Paice, Brandon Uranowitz, and Max von Essen, who will all continue on with the production. In addition, Dimitri Kleioris of the Royal New Zealand Ballet will begin playing the role of Jerry Mulligan at various performances the week of March 15.

An American in Paris is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Inspired by the Academy Award-winning film, the show features music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Craig Lucas. The production officially opened April 12 at the Palace Theatre.

The cast also includes Caitlin Abraham, Will Burton, Attila Joey Csiki, Taeler Cyrus, Ashlee Dupré, Rebecca Eichenberger, Sara Esty, Laura Feig, Leslie Donna Flesner, Kurt Froman, Stephan Hanna, Dustin Layton, Marina Lazzaretto, Nathan Madden, Gia Mongell, Charlotte O’Dowd, Candy Olsen, Rebecca Riker, Sam Rogers, Shannon Rugani, Bradley Schlagheck, Garen Scribner, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Sam Strasfeld, Sarrah Strimel, Charlie Sutton, Mindy Wallace, Allison Walsh, Scott Willis, and Victor J. Wisehart.
