Rachel Zatcoff to Make Broadway Debut in Phantom of the Opera

Broadway veteran Craig Bennett will step into the role of Monsieur Firmin.

Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera has announced that it will welcome two new principal actors beginning the week of August 31. Rachel Zatcoff will make her Broadway debut at the Majestic Theatre as the Christine alternate, one of two cast members that rotate in the leading female role, while Broadway veteran Craig Bennett (The Last Ship) will assume the role of opera manager Monsieur Firmin.

Zatcoff has been seen on the musical theater stage as Maria in the international tour of West Side Story and in regional theater productions of A Little Night Music, The Most Happy Fella, and Mirette. In addition, her opera credits include Street Scene, Die Fledermaus, La clemenza di Tito, and Così fan tutte.

During his Broadway career, Bennett has starred in The Last Ship, A Tale of Two Cities, South Pacific, and Miss Saigon. He also appeared as one of the original stars of the new production of Phantom on its North American Tour, with other national touring credits including Light in the Piazza, Billy Elliot, and more.

Phantom is currently in its 27th year on Broadway and has played more than 11,000 performances. Directed by Harold Prince and based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, and a book by Richard Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber. The production is designed by Maria Björnson, with lighting by Andrew Bridge and sound design by Mick Potter (original sound by Martin Levan). Musical staging and choreography is by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber.
