Prince of Broadway, a musical celebrating the six-decade career of producer-director Harold Prince, will officially see its New York premiere during the 2017-18 Broadway season. The musical will be presented by Manhattan Theatre Club, by special arrangement with Gorgeous Entertainment, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning August 3, 2017. Opening night is set for August 24.

Prince of Broadway, which features words and music from many of the shows that have earned Prince his record 21 Tony Awards, has a book by two-time Tony Award nominee David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), codirection and choreography by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Scottsboro Boys), and direction by Prince. The show looks at the circumstances and fortune that led to Prince creating some of the most enduring and beloved theater works of all time, including West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, and The Phantom of the Opera.

Jason Robert Brown provides new songs, musical supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations. The creative team is made up of Beowulf Boritt (scenic and projection design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Paul Huntley (wig design), Fred Lassen (musical direction), Tara Rubin (casting), and Jeffrey Seller (creative consultant).

The show premiered in Japan in 2015, with a cast that included Drama Desk Award nominee Josh Grisetti (Something Rotten!), Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley (Sweet Charity), Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo (Anastasia), Tony Award nominee Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas), Bryonha Marie Parham (After Midnight), Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner (Side Show), Mariand Torres (Wicked), Kaley Ann Voorhees (The Phantom of the Opera), Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Reon Yuzuki (former Top Star of the Takarazuka Revue Company's Star Troupe). Casting for the Broadway run is still to be announced.

Prince of Broadway was originally announced to premiere on Broadway in 2012 and was later postponed several times due to funding issues.
