Penn & Teller Receive Magical Sardi's Caricatures

The master illusionists are preparing for a return to Broadway this summer.

Master magicians Penn & Teller received a Sardi's caricature in honor of their 2015 Broadway return on July 1. The pair's new self-titled show runs from July 7-August 16 at the Marquis Theatre.

Penn & Teller made their off-Broadway debuts in 1985 and first played Broadway in 1987 (at the theater now known as the Walter Kerr). Their second Broadway engagement, 1991's Refrigerator Tour, played the Eugene O'Neill. Along with a weeklong run at the Beacon Theatre in 2000, their most recent New York stage appearances came during a stint as the Narrator in the 2001 Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show.

The new Broadway show will include elements of their ongoing show at the Rio in Las Vegas (where they will return immediately following the New York shows) and classics from their repertoire. The run is presented by Marc Routh, Richard Frankel, Tom Viertel, and Steve Baruch, the same team that presented all of their previous New York productions.

With several Emmy-winning television specials and appearances on Friends, The Simpsons, and Modern Family (among other shows), Penn & Teller's 14-year run at the Rio has earned them several awards, including the title of Las Vegas Magicians of the Year. They currently appear on two TV series, the CW's Penn & Teller: Fool Us! and SyFy's Wizard Wars. Most recently, they've collaborated on the acclaimed documentary Tim's Vermeer, which Teller directed and Penn Jillette produced.
