Last night, October 30th, the 17th annual 24 Hour Plays returned to Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre. Broadway's best came together to write, direct, and star in six original plays all in a 24-hour window. Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Marsha Norman ( 'night, Mother, The Color Purple) was honored during the evening. Check out photos in the gallery below.

Plays created for the evening were Self-Titled, written by Leslye Headland and directed by Carolyn
Cantor; Freak Encounters, written by Chisa Hutchinson and directed by Warren Leight; Happy Like a Dane, written by Kate Whoriskey and directed by David Lindsay-Abaire; Feeling Words, written by Molly Smith Metzler and directed by Jessica Stone; The Ledge, written by Martyna Majok and directed by May Adrales; and Zumba Del Culo, written by Fernanda Coppel and directed by Shelley Butler.

Performers included Brett Gelman, Michelle Gomez, Justice Smith, Tavi Gevinson, Amy Hargreaves, Genevieve Angelson, Jennifer Esposito, Yul Vázquez, Lois Smith, Josh Charles, Rachel Dratch, Nina Hellman, Miriam Shor, Ebon-Moss Bachrach, Orlando Pabotoy, Lola Kirke, John Doman, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Michael Shannon, Jackie Cruz, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Joel Marsh Garland, Lela Loren, Mia Katigbak, Raúl Castillo, and Russell G. Jones.

Shaina Taub provided musical interludes between each play.

Proceeds from the one-night-only performance benefited the 24 Hour Company’s program supporting theater professionals 25 and under through The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals and the Lilly Awards Foundation's work supporting women in theater and promoting gender parity.
