Broadway veteran Marilu Henner has been cast in the new Broadway musical Gettin' the Band Back Together in the role of Mitch's Mom, Sharon Papadopolous. Henner rose to national fame for the role of Elaine Nardo on TV's long-running comedy Taxi. Her Broadway credits include The Tale of the Allergist Wife, Chicago, Social Security, Pal Joey, Over Here!, and Grease.

She joins previously announced cast members Mitchell Jarvis (Mitch Papadopolous), Jay Klaitz (Bart Vickers), Paul Whitty (Michael "Sully" Sullivan), Sawyer Nunes (Ricky "Bling" Goldstein), Brandon Williams (Tygen Billows), and Tamika Lawrence (Roxanne Velasco). Casting of the final band member, keyboard player Dr. Rummesh "Robbie" Patel, as well as the rest of the company, will be announced at a later date.

Gettin' the Band Back Together follows a recently fired fortysomething who gathers his old bandmates and sets out to win a local Battle of the Bands competition. An earlier, developmental staging of Gettin' the Band Back Together opened at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse in 2013.

Directed by Tony winner John Rando, Gettin' the Band Back Together has music and lyrics by Mark Allen and a book by Ken Davenport and the Grundleshotz with additional material by Sarah Saltzberg. The creative team also includes Chris Bailey (choreography), Derek McLane (sets), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Ken Billington (lighting design), and John Shivers (sound design).

The production will begin previews July 19 at the Belasco Theatre, with opening night set for August 13.
