Laura Osnes and Corey Cott Will Transfer to Broadway With The Bandstand

Laura Osnes and Corey Cott will lead a Broadway transfer of the new musical The Bandstand, set to open during the 2016-17 season. The new production, directed and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, is currently making its world premiere at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse, where it runs through November 8.

Featuring music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Oberacker and Robert Taylor, The Bandstand follows a mismatched band of World War II veterans who join together to compete in a national radio contest in hopes of winning instant stardom. When lead singer Donny Novitski (Cott) meets a beautiful young singer named Julia (Drama Desk Award winner Osnes), he finds the voice that can lead the band to the grand finale. Osnes and Cott originated the roles in the Paper Mill production.

The Bandstand features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Nevin Steinberg. The Broadway transfer is produced by Tom Smedes, Gabrielle Palitz, Terry Schnuck, and Tom Kirdahy.

Dates, a venue, and further casting will be announced in the future. The Paper Mill company also included Tony winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Joe Carroll, Brandon J. Ellis, James Nathan Hopkins, Geoff Packard, Joey Pero, Tanya Birl, Thomas Cannizzaro, Max Clayton, Daniel Cooney, Matt Cusack, Andrea Dotto, Stacia Fernandez, Marc A. Heitzman, Ryan Kasprzak, Andrew Leggieri, Lauren Mufson, Mike Nappi, Jessica Lea Patty, Jeff Pew, Keven Quillon, Corey John Snide, Emily Tate, and Mindy Wallace.
