LaChanze, Ariana DeBose, Storm Lever to Star in Summer on Broadway

The Donna Summer musical will play the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Tony winner LaChanze, Broadway vet Ariana DeBose, and newcomer Storm Lever will star in the upcoming Broadway run of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, producers have announced. Preview performances are scheduled to begin March 28, with opening night at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 23.

The trio of actors, sharing the role of Donna Summer at different ages, appeared in the musical's recent La Jolla Playhouse run. Lever will play "Duckling Donna," with DeBose as "Disco Donna," and LaChanze as "Diva Donna." Full casting will be announced at a later date.

Summer features a book by Colman Domingo, Robert Cary, and Des McAnuff, with songs by Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Paul Jabara, and others. Des McAnuff directs, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo, music supervision by Ron Melrose, scenic design by Robert Brill, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound by Gareth Owen, and projections by Sean Nieuwenhuis.
