The Korean production of Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's Kinky Boots took home top honors at the country's 9th Musical Awards, which were presented on Sunday, August 16.

The Korea Musical Theater Association presented the show with the Musical of the Year Award. Kang Hong-seok took home the Best Lead Actor Award for his performance as Lola. The Korean-language production of Kinky Boots officially opened December 5, 2014 at the Chungmu Art Hall Grand Theatre in Seoul, where it ran through February 22, 2015.

Inspired by the 2005 British film of the same title, Kinky Boots features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It tells the story of Lola, a sassy drag performer who helps rejuvenate a failing shoe factory by designing boots for his fellow drag queens. The Broadway production, which received the 2013 Tony for Best Musical, plays the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
