Fun Home's Judy Kuhn Gets a Sardi's Caricature
Fun Home Tony nominee Judy Kuhn added a Sardi's caricature to her list of accolades, presented during a ceremony on June 2.
In addition to Fun Home, Kuhn received Tony nominations for her work in Chess, She Loves Me, and Les Misérables. She received an Olivier Award nomination for her performance in Metropolis, with other credits including the original casts of Rags, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Two Shakespearean Actors.
Inspired by cartoonist Alison Bechdel's graphic novel-memoir of the same title, Fun Home, with a Tony-nominated book by Lisa Kron, and Tony nominated score by Kron and Tesori, follows the real-life Bechdel's journey to accept the death of her stern, closeted father, Bruce, while also coming to terms with her own sexuality. Kuhn plays Bechdel's real-life mother, Helen. She stars alongside fellow 2015 Tony nominees Michael Cerveris,Beth Malone, Sydney Lucas, and Emily Skeggs, as well as Joel Perez, Roberta Colindrez, Zell Morrow, and Oscar Williams. It runs at the Circle in the Square Theatre.
