John Lithgow Is Welcomed Back to Broadway
After acclaimed runs at Lincoln Center Theater, London's National Theatre, and across the United States, John Lithgow celebrated the Broadway debut of his solo show, Stories by Heart, on January 11 at the American Airlines Theatre. The Roundabout Theatre Company production, directed by Daniel Sullivan, will run through March 4.
In this theatrical memoir, Lithgow "evokes memories of family, explores and expands the limits of the actor’s craft, and masterfully conjures a cast of indelible characters from classic short stories by Ring Lardner and P.G. Wodehouse." Lithgow's first iteration of Stories by Heart premiered in 2008, with Jack O'Brien directing.
The design team includes John Lee Beatty (sets) and Kenneth Posner (lights).
Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room, and received nominations for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, M. Butterfly, and Requiem for a Heavyweight. He is the recipient of three Emmys, two SAG Awards, and a Golden Globe for his role in the sitcom Third Rock From the Sun, as well as Emmys for his work on Dexter, Amazing Stories, and Netflix's The Crown.
