Waitress, the new musical by five-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, has set its Broadway dates. The production will begin previews March 25, 2016, and open on April 24 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

Producers have also announced that Tony winner Jessie Mueller, who starred in the musical when it had its world premiere this past summer at the American Repertory Theater in Boston, will reprise her performance in New York.

Based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress boasts a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by Bareilles, and direction by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

Muller plays Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker who is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition.

The principal cast of the A.R.T. production also included Jeanna de Waal as Dawn, Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Dakin Matthews as Joe, Keala Settle as Becky, Joe Tippett as Earl, Jeremy Morse as Ogie, and Eric Anderson as Cal.

Broadway's Waitress will be produced by Barry and Fran Weissler and Norton and Elayne Herrick.
