Jennifer DiNoia has been announced as the next Elphaba to join the Broadway company of Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. She begins performances August 1, taking over for Rachel Tucker who plays her final performance on July 30.

DiNoia joins as a veteran Elphaba, having performed the role in seven companies across four countries, more than any other actress in the show’s history. She joins a cast that currently features Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Tony Award-winner Judy Kaye as Madame Morrible, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.

Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young girls Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.

Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. Worldwide, Wicked has amassed nearly $4 billion in global sales and has been seen by nearly 50 million people. The show opened October 30, 2003, making it currently the 10th-longest-running production in Broadway history.
