Katrina Lenk, Richard Topol, and More to Lead Paula Vogel's Indecent on Broadway
The original off-Broadway company of Paula Vogel's Indecent will star in the work's upcoming Broadway mounting, beginning performances April 4 at the Cort Theatre. The production opens April 18 under the direction of Rebecca Taichman.
The off-Broadway, and now Broadway, company is made up of Katrina Lenk (Once), Mimi Lieber (Act One), Max Gordon Moore (Relatively Speaking), Tom Nelis (The Visit), Steven Rattazzi (The Fourth Sister), Richard Topol (Fish in the Dark), and Adina Verson (Him).
The play with music is inspired by the controversial Broadway debut of Sholem Asch's 1923 play God of Vengeance. Some saw it as a seminal work of Jewish culture, and others as an act of traitorous libel. It is a transfer of the Vineyard Theatre production, which ran off-Broadway earlier this year in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre.
The production's creative team includes David Dorfman (choreographer), Aaron Halva and Lisa Gutkin (music directors and co-composers), Riccardo Hernandez (scenic designer), Emily Rebholz (costume designer), Chris Akerlind (lighting designer), Matt Hubbs (sound designer), and Tal Yarden (projection designer).
