Andy Karl, Barrett Doss, and More Celebrate Groundhog Day CD Release

The new musical has been nominated for a Tony Award.

The cast of the Tony-nominated musical Groundhog Day celebrated the release of their original Broadway cast recording with an in-store performance and album signing event at Barnes & Noble on May 19. Cast members on hand to perform included leading man Andy Karl, alongside Barrett Doss, Rebecca Faulkenberry, Andrew Call, and Raymond J. Lee.

Based on the 1993 film, Groundhog Day features a score by Matilda The Musical composer Tim Minchin and is directed by Matlida's Matthew Warchus, with original screenwriter Danny Rubin providing the book. The story follows disgruntled weatherman Phil Connors who finds himself stuck in small-town America reliving the same day over and over and over again.

The musical opened at the August Wilson Theatre on April 17. The cast album, produced by Chris Nightingale, Michael Croiter, and Tim Minchin, is now available both digitally and on CD via Masterworks Broadway/Broadway Records.
