The 2017 Olivier Award-winning musical Groundhog Day makes its official Broadway debut tonight at the August Wilson Theatre.

The production has confirmed that leading man Andy Karl, who was injured during the show's Friday, April 14, performance and sat out the weekend shows, will return to the cast for opening night.

Olivier Award winner and two-time Tony nominee Karl, reprising the role he originated at the Old Vic Theatre in London, leads the company opposite Barrett Doss. Based on the 1993 film, Groundhog Day is the story of Phil Connors (Karl), a disgruntled big-city weatherman mysteriously stuck in small-town America and reliving the same day, Groundhog Day, over and over and over again. It features a score by Matilda The Musical composer Tim Minchin and is directed by Matlida's Matthew Warchus, with original screenwriter Danny Rubin providing the book.

Featured in the ensemble are Rebecca Faulkenberry, John Sanders, Andrew Call, Raymond J. Lee, Heather Ayers, Kevin Bernard, Gerard Canonico, Rheaume Crenshaw, Michael Fatica, Katy Geraghty, Camden Gonzales, Jordan Grubb, Taylor Iman Jones, Tari Kelly, Josh Lamon, Joseph Medeiros, Sean Montgomery, William Parry, Jenna Rubaii, Vishal Vaidya, Travis Waldschmidt, and Natalie Wisdom.
