The Tony-nominated Broadway production of Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 will end its run at the Imperial Theatre on September 3. It will have played 32 previews and 336 regular performances since opening on November 14.

Okieriete "Oak" Onaodowan will play the role of Pierre through Sunday, August 13. For performances August 15-20, the role will be played by longtime cast member Scott Stangland. Show creator Malloy will close the show's Broadway run as Pierre, August 22-September 3. Brittain Ashford will return to the role of Sonya, currently played by Ingrid Michaelson, August 15-September 3.

Plans for a national tour are underway, with an expected launch in 2019.

Directed by Rachel Chavkin, The Great Comet was originally commissioned and developed at Ars Nova in New York City where it had its world premiere in fall 2012, and was transferred to a custom-built venue in the Meatpacking District in summer 2013. The show and the entire venue was transferred to the Theater District where it continued its run into spring 2014. It played a pre-Broadway engagement in 2015 at American Repertory Theatre in Massachusetts. The Broadway mounting received 12 Tony nominations and received the awards for Mimi Lien's set and Bradley King's lighting design.

Inspired by a small section of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, The Great Comet currently stars Onaodowan as Pierre and Tony nominee Denée Benton as Natasha. The role of Pierre was originated on Broadway by Josh Groban.

The current cast also includes Courtney Bassett as Mary, Nicholas Belton as Bolonsky/Andrey, Nick Choksi as Dolokhov, Amber Gray as Helene, Grace McLean as Marya D, Paul Pinto as Balaga, 2017 Tony nominee Lucas Steele as Anatole, and Scott Stangland as the standby for Pierre. The ensemble includes Sumayya Ali, Josh Canfield, Kennedy Caughell, Ken Clark, Lulu Fall, Ashley Pérez Flanagan, Nick Gaswirth, Alex Gibson, Brad Giovanine, Billy Joe Kiessling, Mary Spencer Knapp, Blaine Alden Krauss, Reed Luplau, Brandt Martinez, Andrew Mayer, Mary Page Nance, Shoba Narayan, Azudi Onyejekwe, Pearl Rhein, Celia Mei Rubin, Heath Saunders, Katrina Yaukey, and Lauren Zakrin.

The production features choreography by Sam Pinkleton, set design by Mimi Lien, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Bradley King, sound design by Nicholas Pope, music supervision by Sonny Paladino, and musical direction by Or Matias.
