The annual Drama Desk Awards, which celebrate outstanding New York City theater, always feature exciting performances from an impressive selection of the season's Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off-Broadway shows. The 2007 ceremony was no exception, with performances including a pre-Glee Lea Michele and the original cast of Spring Awakening singing Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's "Mama Who Bore Me."

With Spring Awakening's return to Broadway this season — and its four Drama Desk nominations — we thought we'd revisit the musical's first trip to the ceremony, where it happened to walk away with the night's biggest prize.
