Flashback Friday: Glee's Jenna Ushkowitz Was a Nine-Year-Old Princess of Siam

And soon she’ll be a Broadway ”Waitress”.

Earlier this week, Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz announced that she would be returning to Broadway as a replacement for Kimiko Glenn in the cast of Waitress. Musical-theater aficionados know that before she headed to Hollywood, the talented actress performed alongside her fellow "Gleek" Lea Michele in the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening. However, not too many people know that she made her Broadway debut long before that.

At the ripe age of 9, Ushkowitz landed a role as one of the royal children in the 1996 revival of The King and I, starring Donna Murphy and Lou Diamond Phillips. The part was a small one, but she did get her shining moment (and some one-on-one time with Ms. Murphy) during the song "Getting to Know You." Take a look at the cast's 1996 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performance of the Rodgers and Hammerstein tune, and look out for Ushkowitz's adorable solo at 1:53.
