Larry David's Broadway comedy Fish in the Dark has recouped its entire capitalization. The production is currently a record-holder for the highest advance sales of any play in Broadway history.

A play about a death in the family, Fish in the Dark tells the story of Norman, a man dealing with the passing of his father, as well as his overbearing family. The comedy began previews on February 2 and opened March 5 at the Cort Theatre. Anna D. Shapiro directs.

David opened the production in the role of Norman. On June 9, Tony winner Jason Alexander, who starred as David's alter ego George Costanza on the long-running television series Seinfeld, will take over the role. David plays his final performance June 7.

Fish in the Dark costars Rita Wilson, Jayne Houdyshell, Rosie Perez, Ben Shenkman, Lewis J. Stadlen, Jake Cannavale, Marylouise Burke, Jerry Adler, Jenn Lyon, Jonny Orsini, Molly Ranson, Maria Elena Ramirez, Rachel Resheff, Joel Rooks, Jeff Still, Kenneth Tigar, and Richard Topol. The understudies are Ali Rose Dachis, Diane J. Findlay, Alexandra Henrikson, Kathleen McNenny, Daniel Molina, and Greg Stuhr.

The creative team includes Todd Rosenthal (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Brian MacDevitt (lighting design), David Yazbek (original music), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design), and Alan D'Angerio (wig design). Scott Rudin and Lloyd Braun serve as lead producers.
