Danny Burstein-Led Fiddler on the Roof Revival Finds Its Broadway Theatre

The forthcoming Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, starring five-time Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein (Cabaret) as Tevye, will play the Broadway Theatre beginning November 17. The production will officially open December 17 under the direction of Tony winner Bartlett Sher.

Based on the stories of Sholom Alecheim, Fiddler on the Roof features a book by Joseph Stein and a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. It tells the tale of Tevye the milkman, who tries to hold on to "tradition" as the world around him and his family in the little village of Anatevka changes.

Fiddler on the Roof marks the fourth collaboration between Burstein and Sher, who have previously worked together on projects including South Pacific, Golden Boy, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. It also reunites Sher with designers Michael Yeargan (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), and Donald Holder (lighting) for their fifth Broadway collaboration after South Pacific, The Bridges of Madison County, and this season's The King and I. Sound designer Scott Lehrer worked with Sher on Broadway revivals of South Pacific and Joe Turner's Come and Gone, among other shows.

Produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals, Fiddler on the Roof will feature choreography by Hofesh Shechter, based on the original work of Jerome Robbins. Additional information about the Broadway revival will be announced in the coming months.
