Disaster! to Close on Broadway

Seth Rudetsky’s musical send-up of disaster films will end its run at the Nederlander Theatre.

Disaster!, Broadway's new musical send-up of 1970s disaster movies, will end its run at the Nederlander Theatre on May 8 after opening on March 8. The production cuts short its limited run, originally scheduled to conclude on July 3. At closing, Disaster! will have played 32 preview and 72 regular performances.

Directed by Jack Plotnick, Disaster! features a book by three-time Emmy and Grammy Award nominee Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick. The musical incorporates hit tunes such as "Hot Stuff," "Don't Bring Me Down," "I Am Woman," "Alone Again, Naturally," "Signed Sealed Delivered," "Knock on Wood," "Daybreak," "Sky High," and more.

The cast includes (The Producers), Kerry Butler (Xanadu), Kevin Chamberlin (The Addams Family), Adam Pascal (Rent), Faith Prince (Guys & Dolls), Rachel York (Victor/Victoria), Seth Rudetsky (SiriusXM's Seth's Big Fat Broadway), Jennifer Simard (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Max Crumm (Grease), Baylee Littrell, and Lacretta Nicole, along with ensemble members Paul Castree, Manoel Felciano, Casey Garvin, Travis Kent, Alyse Alan Louis, Maggie McDowell, Olivia Phillip, and Catherine Ricafort.

Simard earned the production its sole Tony nomination today, for featured actress in a musical. Baylee Littrell earned a Drama Desk nomination for his featured performance. Roger Bart was nominated by the Outer Critics Circle for his featured performance.

Will Swenson is currently filling in for Bart, who will return to the production on May 7.
