Sotheby's kicked off its annual Americana Week and celebrated the 260th birthday of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, with the opening of a new exhibition and installation featuring Hamilton's letters and manuscripts from the early 20th century.

David Korins, the Tony-nominated scenic designer for Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway musical Hamilton served as the installation's creative director. On January 11, Hamilton's actual birthday, the exhibition welcomed Korins, as well as Hamilton stars Byran Terrell Clark and Brandon Victor Dixon, for a look around.

Auctions for the items on display will take place January 18-21. Directed by Thomas Kail and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton, recipient of 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America. The show had its world premiere at the Public Theater and runs on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, and in Chicago at the PrivateBank Theatre.
