Daveed Diggs, winner of the 2016 Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his performance in Broadway's Hamilton, will depart the production this Friday, July 15. While the dual roles of the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, which Diggs originated, are being recast, understudies Andrew Chappelle, Austin Smith, and Seth Stewart will take them on.

Directed by Thomas Kail and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America. The show had its world premiere at the Public Theater.

In addition to Diggs, Hamilton currently stars Javier Muñoz (Alexander Hamilton), Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Lexi Lawson (Eliza Hamilton), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison), and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds).
