Broadway's Waitress has announced that television actor Chris Diamantopoulos will step into the role of gynecologist Dr. Pomatter at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, replacing the musical's original star Drew Gehling, who plays his final performance on March 30. Diamantopoulos begins his run March 31, the same day the show's Grammy- and Tony-nominated composer Sara Bareilles takes over for Jessie Mueller in the lead role of Jenna. Mueller plays her final performance on March 26.

Diamantopoulos made his Broadway debut in 2002 as Ethan Girard in The Full Monty, followed by a run as Marius in Les Misérables in 2003. His other theater credits include the national tours of Music of the Night and Joseph, as well as regional productions of Evita and Forever Plaid. He can be seen on television in HBO’s Silicon Valley and Good Girls Revolt. He portrayed Robin Williams in Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Mork & Mindy. His other TV credits include Episodes, About a Boy, The Office, Arrested Development, 24, and The Kennedys. Diamantopoulos earned an Emmy nomination as the voice of Mickey Mouse on the eponymous animated series. His feature film credits include Moe Howard in The Three Stooges, The Art of the Steal, and Man VS.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelley's 2007 motion picture, Waitress features songs by Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus. The production opened April 24, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, earning four Tony nominations.

The current company features Tony winner Jessie Mueller (Jenna), Eric Anderson (Cal), Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Dakin Matthews (Joe), William Popp (Earl), Cate Elefante, Thay Floyd, Henry Gottfried, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Molly Jobe, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McClesky, Ella Dane Morgan, Jeremy Morse, Olivia Phillip, Stephanie Torns, and Ryan Vasquez.

Waitress will begin its U.S. national tour at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square this October.
