Grammy Award winner Brandy Norwood previewed her upcoming Broadway debut engagement as Roxie Hart in Chicago on April 17. The singer will play an eight-week run opposite Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly at the Ambassador Theatre from April 28-June 21.

Norwood has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. Her many singles include "I Wanna Be Down" and "The Boy Is Mine," which holds the titles for longest-running No. 1 song and best-selling duet of all time. As an actress, she starred in the sitcom Moesha and the Disney television film adaptation of Cinderella in the title role. She received a 2014 NAACP Image Award for her role as Chardonnay on BET’s The Game.

Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. This long-running revival is directed by Walter Bobbie.
