Abby Mueller and cast members from the Broadway company of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical headed to Penn Plaza in Manhattan on June 21 to celebrate the show's custom Sing for Hope piano.
The Sing for Hope pianos are the country's largest annual public arts project, reaching an estimated 2 million New Yorkers annually across the five boroughs. This summer marks the project's sixth anniversary with the placement of the 400th artist-designed piano to date, making New York City host to more street pianos than any other city in the world. After their time on the streets, Sing for Hope will transport the instruments to New York City public schools.
Beautiful, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, chronicles the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer and songwriter Carole King. The musical features a book by Douglas McGrath, with songs written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and more.
The show was nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning two, and earned the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
