Barbara Cook Sings Mostly Sondheim at NJPAC for One Night Only, March 28

The legendary Barbara Cook will be bringing her acclaimed one-woman show Mostly Sondheim to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for a one-night-only performance on Friday, March 28 at 8pm.

Mostly Sondheim features the work of the eminent Broadway composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim (Company, Follies, Sunday in the Park With George, etc.) plus songs by such other masters as Harold Arlen, E. Y. Harburg, Cy Coleman, and Irving Berlin, all of them drawn from a list of songs which Sondheim has said he wishes he had written.

Cook won a Tony Award for her performance as Marian Paroo in The Music Man (1957) and also created roles in the original Broadway productions of Flahooley, Plain and Fancy, Candide, The Gay Life, She Loves Me, and The Grass Harp. She has performed Mostly Sondheim in London, in Washington, D.C., and at Lincoln Center. The show received a 2002 Tony nomination in the Best Special Theatrical Event category. The NJPAC performance will feature Tex Arnold on piano and Peter Donovan on bass, playing arrangements by Cook’s longtime collaborator Wally Harper.
