Babes in Arms, Kismet, and Company Chosen for Next L.A. Reprise! Season


The seventh annual season of Reprise! Broadway’s Best productions in Los Angeles has been announced.

The 2003-2004 season will kick off with Babes in Arms, the classic 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart “let’s put on a show!” musical featuring such standards as “Where Or When,” “I Wish I Was in Love Again,” “My Funny Valentine,” “Johnny One-Note,” and “The Lady is a Tramp.” The Reprise! production will be directed by Glenn Casale and Dan Mojica, and will run September 9-21, 2003.

Next up is Kismet, the operettic 1953 musical with songs by Robert Wright and George Forrest (adapted from the work of Alexander Borodin) including “And This is My Beloved,” “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads,” and “Stranger in Paradise.” The book of the show is by Charles Lederer and Luther Davis, based on the play by Edward Knoblock. Kismet will be directed for Reprise! by Arthur Allan Seidelman and will run January 20-February 1, 2004.

Rounding out the season will be the 1970 marriage musical Company, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (“The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Being Alive,” etc.) and a book by George Furth. The show will be directed by David Lee and will run May 18-30, 2004.
