Drama League Sets Date, Venue for 2016 Awards

The annual ceremony honors the best of the theater season.

The 82nd annual Drama League Awards will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, the organization has announced.

The awards eligibility period for Broadway and off-Broadway productions will end on Sunday, April 17, 2016, followed by the nominations announcement on Tuesday morning, April 19, for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the Distinguished Performance Award.

First awarded in 1922, the Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. They are the only major theatergoer awards chosen by both industry professionals and audience members together. The Drama League Awards recognize distinguished productions, performances, and exemplary career achievements.

Additional information about the 2016 Drama League Awards will be announced in the coming months. The 2015 honors went to The Visit star Chita Rivera, along with the Broadway productions of An American in Paris, The King and I, and You Can't Take It With You.
