As of its closing, Urinetown will be the longest running show in the history of Henry Miller's Theatre, which housed the original Broadway productions of The Vortex, Our Town, Born Yesterday, and The Subject Was Roses. The theater was also the first home of the 1998 Roundabout revival of Cabaret, which is currently playing at Studio 54.
In his September 21, 2001 TheaterMania review of the Mark Hollman-Greg Kotis musical, Greg Bauer wrote, "What this show is about is really beside the point; Urinetown proves that good writing and excellent performances can make any subject smell like a million bucks."
