In the play, successful playwright Stephen Gaye (Pierce) is about to abandon his latest script, when his young secretary offers him new inspiration. With her as his muse, he stages the show on Broadway, only to learn, to his dismay, that the show's young leading man is being inspired by her too. Kimbrough will play the role of Gaye's butler, Flogdell.
Kimbrough's stage credits include the original Broadway production of Company, the Off-Broadway play Sylvia, and the recent City Center Encores! revival of No, No, Nanette. He is best known for his role as Jim Dial on the sitcom Murphy Brown.
Pierce won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Curtains and starred as Sir Robin in the original Broadway cast of Monty Python's Spamalot. He is best known for his Emmy Award-winning work as Niles Crane on Frasier.
