Co-directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall, the production was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won four: Best Revival of a Musical, Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Ron Rifkin), Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Alan Cumming), and Best Leading Actress in a Musical (Natasha Richardson).
During its run, the show has had a continuous stream of high-profile performers in the lead roles -- Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lea Thompson, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Tom Bosley, Polly Bergen, and many others. Currently appearing as Sally Bowles, the English cabaret singer basking in the excesses of pre-Nazi Germany, and the Emcee of the Kit Kat Klub in which she works are Melina Kanakaredes and Jon Secada.
This revival is the longest-running Broadway incarnation of the Kander and Ebb and musical; the original production ran for 1,166 performances and a 1987 revival that starred original Emcee Joel Grey ran for 262 performances.
