The Broadway production of Tracy Letts' Superior Donuts will feature the entire original cast of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production, including the previously announced Michael McKean, along with Jon Michael Hill, Yasen Peyankov, James Vincent Meredith, Jane Alderman, Kate Buddeke, Cliff Chamberlain, Michael Garvey, and Robert Maffia. The play, which debuts on September 16 at the Music Box Theatre, will be directed by Tina Landau.

In the play, Arthur (McKean) owns a decrepit donut shop in Chicago, and Franco Wicks (Hill), a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better.

Letts won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, as well as the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for August: Osage County. His other plays include Man from Nebraska, Killer Joe, and Bug. Landau, a longtime member of Steppenwolf, directed the Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing. Her many other directing credits include Floyd Collins, Miracle Brothers, Iphigenia 2.0, Time of Your Life, and Wig Out!

McKean has appeared on Broadway in The Homecoming and Hairspray. He is well known for his roles in the film This Is Spinal Tap and the television series Laverne & Shirley.
