Tracie Thoms will join the cast of Broadway's Rent as Joanne Jefferson on July 26, and will continue with the show through its closing performance on Sunday, September 7.

Thoms played the role of Joanne in Chris Columbus' film version of the musical and co-stars on the CBS-TV series Cold Case. She most recently appeared on stage in And Her Hair Went With Her at the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles.

Written by Jonathan Larson, Rent won four Tony Awards in 1996, including Best Musical, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
