 | | Aubrey O'Day in Hairspray | Pop singer Aubrey O'Day will take over the role of Amber Von Tussle from Ashley Spencer in the Broadway musical Hairspray on Friday, July 18. She will remain with the show through August 31.
O'Day is best known as part of the top-selling group Danity Kane. Her stage credits include Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Fame, The Sound of Music, and Fiddler on the Roof.
Based on the hit film by John Waters, Hairspray has music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Whitman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. The show is directed by Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
The current cast includes George Wendt (Edna), Marissa Parry (Tracy), Ashley Parker Angel (Link), Jenifer Lewis (Motormouth Maybelle), Tevin Campbell (Seaweed), and Karen Mason (Velma).
