Gareth Saxe, Alton Fitzgerald White, et al. Join Broadway’s The Lion King June 15

New principal casting has been announced for the Broadway production of The Lion King, playing the Minskoff Theatre. The following actors will join the cast beginning with the Tuesday, June 15 performance: Gareth Saxe (Scar), Alton Fitzgerald White (Mufasa), Cameron Pow (Zazu), Ben Jeffrey (Pumbaa), Fred Berman (Timon), and Chauntee Schuler (Nala).

Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, The Lion King is directed by Julie Taymor. The Broadway score features Elton John and Tim Rice’s music from the film along with three new songs by John and Rice; additional musical material by South African Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor and Hans Zimmer; and music from “Rhythm of the Pride Lands,” an album inspired by the original music in the film, written by Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Hans Zimmer.

The current cast also includes Tshidi Manye (Rafiki), Dashaun Young (Simba), James Brown-Orleans (Banzai), Bonita J. Hamilton (Shenzi), Enrique Segura (Ed), with Joshua Jackson and Alphonso Romero Jones II alternating as Young Simba and Khail Toi Bryant and Jade Milan alternating as Young Nala.
