The recording of the Broadway cast album of Passing Strange, which was taped in front of a live audience in a recording session on stage at the Belasco Theatre on Monday, April 14, will be released on iTunes on Tuesday, May 27. The CD, produced by Ghostlight Records, is expected in stores in July.

Passing Strange features music and lyrics by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, and is co-created and directed by Annie Dorsen. The show takes audiences on an international journey from L.A. to Amsterdam, Berlin, and beyond as a young man from California searches for his identity.

The cast features de'Adre Aziza, Daniel Breaker, Eisa Davis, Colman Domingo, Chad Goodridge, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Stew, himself. In addition, the on-stage band includes Rodewald along with Christian Cassan and Jon Spurney.

The show is nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical; it has already won the Drama Desk Award and New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, and Obie Awards as Best New American Play and Outstanding Ensemble Performance.
