The Broadway revival of the Arthur Laurents-Jule-Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical Gypsy, now at the St. James Theatre, will be recorded on May 5 and 6, with a CD release by Time Life set for August.

The new recording will include a number of songs cut from the original 1959 production and never recorded, including "Three Wishes for Christmas," "Mama's Talkin' Soft," "Nice She Ain't," "Smile, Girls," "Who Needs Him?" and two versions of "Mother's Day," all of which will be orchestrated by Jonathan Tunick.

The production stars Patti LuPone (Mama Rose), Laura Benanti (Louise), Boyd Gaines (Herbie), Bill Bateman (Mr. Goldstone), Jim Bracchitta (Uncle Jocko), Marilyn Caskey (Electra), Alison Fraser (Tessie), Sami Gayle (Baby June), Leigh Ann Larkin (Dainty June), Lenora Nemetz (Mazeppa), Bill Raymond (Pop), Brian Reddy (Weber), Emma Rowley (Baby Louise), and Tony Yazbeck (Tulsa).

The ensemble includes Beckley Andrews, Nancy Renée Braun, Mindy Dougherty, Kyrian Friedenberg, Sarah Marie Hicks, Steve Konopelski, Matthew Lobenhofer, Nicole Mangi, Katie Micha, Matty Price, Andy Richardson, Jessica Rush, Alicia Sable, John Scacchetti, Geo Seery, Rider Quentin Stanton and Pearce Wegener.
