Raven-Symoné to Join Broadway’s Sister Act

Raven-Symoné will play Deloris Van Cartier in Broadway’s Sister Act, playing at the Broadway Theatre, according to a report on Deadline.com. It is anticipated she will replace the show’s original star, Patina Miller, in March. A spokesperson for the production could not confirm the Deadline report.

Raven-Symoné is perhaps best known for her work on television’s That’s So Raven, which aired from 2003-2007. Among her many credits are such series as Kim Possible, American Dad!, and State of Georgia. In addition, she has provided the voice for Indessa for several animated Tinkerbell movies.

The performer has also released numerous studio albums including Here’s to New Dreams, Undeniable, and This Is My Time.

Jerry Zaks has directs the musical, based on the hit film of the same name, which tells the story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, who is put in protective custody in a convent after witnessing her gangster boyfriend and his cronies commit a murder. The show features an original score by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater and a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane.
