Academy Award-Winning Costume Designer Eiko Ishioka Has Died

Ishioka's work can currently be seen on Broadway in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. She received Tony Award nominations for M. Butterfly, and was visual artistic director for David Copperfield: Dreams and Nightmares on Broadway. She also designed Cirque du Soleil's Varekei, which earned her a Drama Desk Award nomination.
In addition, she won an Academy Award for Bram Stoker's 'Dracula. Her other film credits include The Cell, The Fall, Immortals, as well as the forthcoming Mirror Mirror, starring Julia Roberts. Ishioka also won a Grammy Award for for her design of Miles Davis's album Tutu.
Ishioka also designed directed Bjork's music video "Cocoon," and wrote books, including Eiko by Eiko and Eiko on Stage.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, two brothers, and a sister.
