Richard Eyre directs with co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and additional choreography by Stephen Mear. The show features a book by Julian Fellows, and uses both the original film score by Robert and Richard Sherman and new songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
The production was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and won for Bob Crowley's scenic design.

Read what our TM Insiders had to say about Mary Poppins!
So, were fans of Hair, Spring Awakening and Passing Strange, to show how our tastes run. But, we are also diehard Disney fans. This interpretation of the story is far darker than the movie, and not exactly riveting. But, all the singing is excellent, there are some good production numbers, and Disney rocks the production. More than anything, this is Disney at its best --- with over the top production values. The set is wonderfully elaborate and there are more and better special effects than Ive seen in a long time. We started out stitting on our hands, but they had us by the end. Beauty was a far better story, but Mary is a far better production.
My granddaughter and I saw this production in London in 2007. Almost two years later, I cant stop thinking about it, especially Matthew Bournes choreography. Im planning a trip to New York from Los Angeles just to see this show again!
This is an amazing show! Its very different and its great for all ages! Great cast, great scenic designs! I wasn so upset when it ended. I like it so much I saw it 3 more times!
