I think this was anohter victim of the playwright filling up the minutes. Plays dont necessarily get better the longer they are and playwrights may sometimes think they get paid by the word. This play with a thoughtful and quite interesting theme diluted both with its length and unnecesary diversions. Both actors were very good especially Linda Lavin but you would expect that from one of her stature. There were flashes of wit and meaningful dialogue for these two to work on but not enough of them to make this a very memorable theater piece. The set was very lavishand evocative. I think a good editing might improve it immensely because there are good ideas and premises there they are just swallowed up by the volume.

Linda Lavin is Marvelous

Attended first night of previews and was blown away by Linda Lavins performance. Her ease with dialogue, subtle gestures, and physical and emotional transformation from scene to scene kept me wanting more. The scenery and lighting were just perfect. rating: 1 stars ? posted on 4/11/2010 at 8:53 AM
