Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life takes a look at the creation of some of the greatest musicals in theater history, all of which featured Rivera, including West Side Story, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Rivera is the winner of two Tony Awards (for Kiss and The Rink), as well as six additional nominations. In 2002, she received the coveted Kennedy Center Honor. The production features direction and choreography by Graciela Daniele, a book by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, and new songs by Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Chita Rivera reunites on Broadway with former co-star Dick Van Dyke for the first time in 45 years for four special performances January 24-26.
The new Broadway season begins with Burn the Floor, featuring Dancing With the Stars' Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff. Off-Broadway sees the new musical Vanities, Buck Henry and Holland Taylor in Mother, Lucy Thurber's Monstrosity, and Ariane Mnouchkine and Declan Donnellan-helmed works at the Lincoln Center Festival.
