Synopsis

Winner of the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical!!!

Avenue Q is set in NYC on a street which is described as the only place you can afford to live when you're just out of college, out of a job, or just plain broke. The musical features a cast of 20-something live actors and singing puppets. Jason Moore directs this new musical for grown-ups written by Jeff Whitty, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. Avenue Q is a co-production by the Vineyard Theatre and The New Group, and is also the recipient of Tony Awards for Best Original Score (music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx), Best Book of a Musical (Jeff Whitty), and the 2003 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical for its Off-Broadway run.

"Popular" tickets are sold by lottery the day of the performance for $21.25. Lottery cards are available beginning at 5:30pm for 8:00pm shows and 11:30am for 2:00pm shows. Each winner can purchase up to 2 tickets.

Review: Funniest Show on Broadway by OV505629

I say with full confidence that Avenue q is the funniest show i have EVER seen on broadway. I just saw it last night, and laughed the entire show. But despite the silly and comedic elements of the show, it really does display what real life can be like, including struggling to find purpose, love, sex, jealousy, and homosexuality. And the message at the ends shines clear and true. If you want to laugh at things you never thought youd hear on a broadway stage, this is the show for you!

Review: Avenue Q by babblingwally

I loved it! It was like an adult version of Sesame Street. It has been a long time since a show made me laugh so hard! I think it was well done and very creative and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Review: The best by millersmom

as a parent of young adults, we love to find a show we can ALL enjoy.....this is one of if not the BEST show...my boys are 19 and 22....I have seen it 3 times, and that is because I tell friends about it and they say come with us...so we do! I would see it again and again...you will not be sorry!

Review: you wouldn't think puppets could ... by morsesline

do that, and even though you may be a little horrified that they did, you enjoyed every moment of it. This isnt Sesame Street, these puppets sound remarkably like Generation Xers struggling with love, careers, and most every other aspect of life. Its nice to have puppets on stage again, especially when they have a mind of their own.
