Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical!!!
Roundabout Theatre Company presents the Broadway premiere of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins. The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with music direction by Paul Gemignani. It explores the history of presidential assassination in America, from John Wilkes Booth to John Hinckley, Jr. Winner of the 2004 Drama League Award for Most Distinguished Production of a Revival and 2004 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.
The production stars Becky Ann Baker (Sara Jane Moore), James Barbour (Leon Czolgosz), Mario Cantone (Samuel Byck), Michael Cerveris (John Wilkes Booth), Mary Catherine Garrison (Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme), Alexander Gemignani (John Hinckley), Neil Patrick Harris (Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald), Marc Kudisch (Proprietor), Jeffrey Kuhn (Giuseppe Zangara), and Denis O'Hare (Charles Guiteau).

At least once, sensitivity surrounding a musical about gunning down presidents halted the Broadway bow of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins, but the bravura revue has finally arrived in a walloping production. Stressing the wry-to-sinister carnival atmosphere that the composer-lyricist and librettist want to establish -- the shooting gallery effect -- set designer Robert Brill has constructed an imposing segment of wooden steeplechase that reaches to the high rafters of Studio 54 and looks as if it would go up in flames were a match to be carelessly tossed at it.
