Nominated for 4 Tony Awards including Best Score for Dolly Parton and Best Performance for Allison Janney!
Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Marc Kudisch, and Allison Janney star in the new musical 9 to 5, based on the film of the same name. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler.
This all-new musical comedy about friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era centers on a trio of office workers who turn the tables on their sexist and egotistical boss. The show features a book by Patricia Resnick, co-author of the film's screenplay, and a score by Grammy Award winner Dolly Parton, who penned the film's hit title song, as well as 18 original numbers that mix Broadway and pop with her signature witty lyrics.
Two hours prior to each performance of 9 To 5: The Musical, 38 tickets will be sold by lottery at $36.50 per ticket. These tickets must be purchased with cash and there is a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery entries will commence two hours prior to each show at the Marriott Marquis Theatre Box Office with the drawing taking place 90 minutes to curtain time.

A really great evenings entertainment, great acting, great singing, great dancing and lots of energy and fun. The cast obviously gel together perfectly and their enthusiasm and chemistry really comes through. Go in with a frown, maybe but you wont come out with one.
I thought it was amazing! It was funny, the music was great, and the casting was very well done. It was quite similar to the movie, but with dancing. Excellent show.
For a night of laughs, song, and just feeling good this is the play to see. The actors are first rate, as well as the dancers. The musical score is all Dolly!!! Enjoyed every minute, and still laughing!!!!
I saw "9 to 5" opening weekend of previews here in NYC and had a great time! The entire cast is quite strong, however the ensemble needs to clean the big musical numbers a bit...that will improve with time no doubt.
The three leading ladies blew me away, especially Megan Hilty as Doralee. Start to finish she had the strongest character...spot on Dolly! Im sure Ms. Parton was very proud!
As always, Stephanie J. Block delivered unparalled vocals, especially in the show stopping number "Get Out and Stay Out". Her amazing voice seems to come out effortlessly and she has some very awkward/funny moments which suits her character perfectly
Last, but certainly not least...Allison Janney proved to hold her own on stage when were used to seeing her on screen. Although she doesnt have the same vocal chops as the other two ladies, she adds enough personality and sass to make up for it. Her big number "One of the boys" brought down the house...and she looked great too!
Do not go into this musical expecting it to be deep, meaningful and moving...go into it for what it is: A fun movie parody with some great comedy. The 1st act is a bit slow, which they will no doubt clean up while in previews...but all in all I had a wonderful time at this production and would highly recommend it to anyone searching for a great night out. -AU
