WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Boston Center for the Arts presents Spell # 7 by Ntozake Shange. It is 1979 and Company One invites you to enjoy a night of sinewy, erotic, and insistent poetry. Set in a bar frequented by African American artists and musicians Ntozake Shange's Spell #7 is a powerful and passionate evocation of black culture suppressed. An intimate look into the lives of nine struggling performers seeking acceptance, validation and self-respect in a harsh world of stereotypes and minstrel effects.
