Synopsis

Stranded on an island after a plane crash, a group of British schoolboys must learn to survive on their own. The charismatic and dominating Jack is pitted against the sensible and sensitive Ralph, as the boys reel out of control. William Golding's modern classic captures the disintegration of an untried and precarious civilization under the pressure of raw nature. The frightening society the boys create mirrors the troubling possibilities in our own world. Timely and timeless. (Recommended for ages 12 and up.)
