Synopsis

SpeakEasy Stage Company presents Johnny Guitar, based on a classic 1954 western that starred Joan Crawford. The musical uses a mix of 50's rock, doo-wop and steamy Southwestern ballads to tell the story of a feud that erupts between Vienna, a sultry saloonkeeper and Emma, a jealous tycoon, over control of a small western town. When Johnny Guitar, a handsome stranger with a secret past, rides into town, the stage is set for a showdown unlike anything the Old West - or Boston - has ever seen.

The show features a book by Nicholas van Hoogstraten, music by Martin Silvestri & Joel Higgins, and lyrics by Higgins. Norton Award-winner Paul Daigneault directs the Boston premiere, assisted by music director José Delgado and choreographer David Connolly.
